Teeth whitening uses a bleaching agent to penetrate the surface of the teeth and breakdown the discoloured molecules that are there, leaving them looking brighter and whiter than before.
Discolouration of the teeth and some surface staining is a completely natural occurrence – it can happen due to simple genetics, ageing, and lifestyle choices such as what we eat and drink (your daily coffee habit and cheeky glass of red wine could be the culprit). But we all want pearly bright whites now, and luckily, the process of doing so couldn’t be easier thanks to our teeth whitening treatments here at 23 Dental.
If you’ve been thinking about changing up your smile, then teeth whitening could be the way. It’s the ultimate confidence booster when it comes to your smile, whether you choose to do it as a single treatment, or incorporate it into a smile makeover with teeth straightening and composite bonding, for example.
The Step-by-Step Process
Teeth whitening uses a bleaching agent to penetrate the surface of the teeth and breakdown the discoloured molecules that are there, leaving them looking brighter and whiter than before.
At 23 Dental, we offer home-based teeth whitening treatments which means you can whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home, while still benefiting from our supervision. You’ll be measured and fitted for your bespoke made whitening trays here at the practice, and they’ll be made for you off-site. Once they’re ready, you’ll be able to wear them at home with the whitening gel formula of your choice.
Here at 23 Dental, we’ve chosen to work with Boutique Whitening to offer our patients the optimal home-based teeth whitening experience.
Most home-based treatments take four weeks to produce results and you will wear your whitening trays for 1-2 hours a day or overnight while you sleep, depending on which formula you choose.
There shouldn’t be any pain involved in the teeth whitening process. Some patients do experience some sensitivity, but there are formulas available with lower levels of bleach which can be more comfortable. You can also use a de-sensitising toothpaste to help address your sensitivity and comfort.
Teeth whitening treatments don’t affect the enamel of the tooth and are completely safe for the user when completed under dentist supervision.
Results from teeth whitening can last a long time and reducing your intake of food and drinks that can cause staining will help maintain and prolong your brighter smile for even longer.
Absolutely – your whitening trays will last for long time provided you do not have any extensive dental treatment done after your trays have been fabricated. This means that if you feel your pearly white smile fading, you can easily purchase another syringe of whitening formula and top up that smile.
