You can simply clean your implant as you would your natural teeth with regular hygiene maintenance from your hygienists and monitoring from your dentist.
Designed to replace a tooth, or several teeth, implants are made up of a titanium screw that is then implanted into the jaw. These screws are completely biocompatible and body-safe, and perform the same function as the root of the tooth, acting as an anchor for the prosthetic tooth or teeth that are then held in place on top.
The treatment time will depend on each individual patient, how many teeth are being replaced, and which treatment you opt for. In all cases, however, we have to allow time for the titanium screw and the jawbone to fuse together before applying the personal prosthetic tooth, which usually takes three months.

Dental implants are suitable in most situations, however, we will have to determine if there is enough healthy jawbone to receive a dental implant. This is usually done via X-ray or CT scan.
There is no age limit when it comes to receiving implants, and there is no reason why older patients can’t receive dental implants, unless there is an underlying medical condition which could make the implant placement and/or the healing process challenging. In some cases, older patients may have less healthy jawbone available which we will be able to ascertain during a consultation with an X-ray or CT scan. In case of inadequate bone or proximity to vital anatomical structures you may need additional procedures such as a bone graft or sinus lift.
